Our take on CarPro Perl
CarPro Perl is a household name now when it comes to detailing products, I think most have used it, and if you haven't, you should! It delivers the perfect finish, not so weak you barely know you've applied anything, but far, far from that cheap, tacky looking silicone spray finish.
It can be used on plastics, rubbers, vinyl etc so it's great on engine bays which is what we heavily use it for, but also interior surfaces like dashboards, leather and more. On the exterior it can be used on trim, rubber, or even tyres, however we feel there are better options for the tyres, such as CarPro Darkside or Gyeon Q2 Tire.
This versatile dressing can be used on many surfaces and leaves that fresh, factory look quickly and easily.
How to Use CarPro Perl
How long is required: 5-15 minutes
What you need additionally: 2-3x Microfibre Towels
Dilute Perl depending on its use. External plastics: 1:3, engine bay: 1:1 - 1:3, tyres & rubber: 1:0 - 1:1, interior / dashboard / leather: 1:5.
Ensure the surface is clean and free of dirt and grime. Shake the bottle well to ensure the product is fully mixed and spray over the surface. Wipe off with a clean microfibre towel. For more intricate areas spray Perl onto an applicator pad and then apply to the area.
FAQs
CarPro Perl vs Darkside: Perl is a water-based dressing that delivers a natural to satin finish, it's more versatile and can be used for tyres, trim, engine bays, interiors etc. Darkside is a tyre dressing with a Si02 formula that offers much higher levels of shine and more water repellency/durability.
CarPro Perl vs 303: This for us would be a close one, both CarPro Perl and 303 Aerospace Protectant are very good products competing in the same areas. It would come down to factors like pricing really.
CarPro Perl vs VRP: In terms of their finished result, very similar, however, we find Chemical Guys VRP has more of a gel feel making it suited for application with a pad. Perl is a runnier and suited for both pad or spray application, making it a little easier for covering larger, more intricate areas such as engine bays.
CarPro Perl On Leather: Yes it can be used, it's actually one of its four intended applications and what forms its name (P= Plastic, E= Engine, R= Rubber, L= Leather). That said it's personal preference if you want to use it as it will add a subtle shine. Personally, we prefer the matte look of clean leather.
